Breakfast truly is an important meal. Your body enters into a low metabolism state while you are sleeping since sleep does not require high calories to maintain the body. This is why it is important not to eat much before going to sleep, since the body will not burn off the calories once in the low metabolic state of sleep and cause you to get fat. Conversely, once awake in the morning, the body does not leave this low metabolic state for several hours - unless you kick start it with forcing your system to digest and metabolize food.
